Frequently asked questions

What does the venue hire fee include?

The hire fee includes the exclusive use of The Barn, The Yard and The Barn Field and a fitted dance floor in The Barn. The fee also includes electricity supply for your caterer and DJ or Band and for small weddings use of the lavatories in the barn.

Can we use any caterer, photographer, venue dresser, florist etc?

You are welcome to use your own caterer subject to our approval. Please bear in mind that this barn doesn't have a kitchen but most caterers will be used to bringing a mobile kitchen or having a catering tent for their needs.

As the barn is the working space of Kismet Photography we would usually look after your photography as well.  Of course, we understand that you might not want to have a professional photographer, or maybe you have already chosen your perfect photographer.  If you'd like to bring someone else, that's fine, we simply adjust the price for you

We can recommend suppliers for your other wedding planning needs and these are people that we work with regularly and know.

Are tables and chairs available for our event?

We can arrange this for you at around £6 per head.

What about tableware?

We can arrange this for you at around £5 per head.

What is the booking procedure?

A 50% deposit and signed contract are required to secure your chosen date. The balance is payable two calendar months before your wedding date.  Payments are accepted by bank transfer or cheque.

Venue capacity.

The space is perfect for wedding parties of up to 60 where everything can be self contained within the barn, however as a guide, for larger parties we recommend the following:

For Dining: The barn will seat an absolute maximum of 90 and there is space for a yurt or marquee if you need a larger dining space.

Unless your celebration is very small we would recommend having a marquee anyway for the over spill. Our preferred supplier is Shipseys in Salisbury .

I'd like a Marquee, how much will it cost me?

For the whole works, Shipseys can erect a marquee large enough to seat 120 people, fully lined and carpeted with a Chinese Hat entrance for £2160 including vat - this price was correct at Jan 2016. Please contact Shipseys direct. There are many other marquee options available and of course, you can also bring your own tents and/or gazebos.

Do we need to hire in loos?

There are three loos in the barn and for parties over 60 you will be required to hire in extra loos. We suggest hired loos for the gents and let the ladies use those within the barn. Depending on your choice of loos allow £250 to £750.

Can we get married at Longford Barn?

At this time we have not applied for a ceremony licence, however we do welcome blessings and hand tying ceremonies and can give you the details of an excellent Celebrant. As the barn is our private space we want to keep it exclusive and so we restrict the number of weddings at Longford Barn.

Where can we get married?

We are fortunate to be close to several churches, Salisbury Cathedral and Salisbury Registry Office. If you are looking for a rustic barn for your celebrations but like the idea of exchanging vows in a beautiful country house then why not consider the splendid New House in Redlynch and enjoy the contrast of country house splendour followed by countryside rustic charm.

When can we have access to the barn to start dressing it?

From 10am until 5pm the day before your wedding.

Will you charge extra for access to the barn the day before and the day after our wedding?

Can we dance in the barn?

Yes you can. A 12ft x 15ft dance floor is provided.

What time should music stop?

What time do we have to leave the barn?

Everyone to have left by mid-night and doors will be locked at this time.

Who is responsible for clearing the barn?

Your caterers are responsible for clearing away anything associated with the catering and drinking such as left over food, drink, dirty crockery and glasses etc.

It is your responsibility to make sure that anything else is cleared away and removed from site, including props, additional lighting, candles, straw bales, gifts etc. The barn should be cleared by noon the day after your wedding.

Damage Deposit

At the time of booking you will be asked to pay a £250 damage deposit. We will retain this sum as security against damage or the site not being cleared.
